BORTHWICK family - DNA research
« on: Sunday 12 August 18 00:14 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Are there any descendants of the Borthwick family from East Lothian on here that have undertaken a DNA test through Ancestry, FTDNA or My Heritage?

I'd like to make contact to share and compare results / tree.

I have my results on all 3 sites mentioned, plus Gedmatch.  (Gedmatch number T037587)

Hi Dave,

My Borthwick connection is not blood related, so wouldn't help, (Walter Borthwick born 1797 Langholm was husband of my 4 x gt.aunt Janet Elliot), but I have in the last couple of weeks been helping two others, one in Durham and one in America, with their ancestor Walter Borthwick who married Jean Campbell at Colinton, Midlothian in 1821 and died there in 1838 aged 38.

I have just found that there was an older Walter Borthwick who also died in Colinton, but in 1827 aged 63 years and he may have been the son of Alexander Borthwick and Mary Stewart, born 1765 in Lasswade.

Would you by any chance be related to that family or able to tell us anything more about them?

        All the best,   Malcolm
