Cleverly/Rutty/Smith
« on: Monday 13 August 18 12:04 BST (UK) »
Eliza Rutty married Herbert Alfred Smith on 27 Oct 1898 in Pewsey, Wiltshire.   Herbert died in 1904.  On 30 Jul 1904 an Eliza Smith (widow) marries George Cleverly (Cleverley) in Wilsford, Wiltshire. So far so good.  On the 1911 census George and Eliza can be found in nearby North Newton with three children, Percy born 1895, Frank born 1897 and Margery born 1899. On the 1911 census George has recorded that they have been married 7 years which fits in with their marriage in 1904.

On checking the births of the children (and an older child Hester born 1892) they are all registered with the surname Cleverly/Cleverley, motherís name Smith. So are they Georgeís children or not? Was Eliza having children by George before and during her marriage to Herbert or is there another family I have got confused with.

Children's MMN should be Rutty, not Smith. (if you have got you facts right)

What names appear for parents/witnesses at each marriage?
