Help Please William Taylor
« on: Monday 13 August 18 18:03 BST (UK) »
So I thought I would try the Gloucestershire forum first.

So to give you a bit more info, my 3rd great grandfather was
William Taylor
1825–1908
Birth 06/11/1825 • St James Westminster, London, England
Death 12/06/1908 • Lambeth, Surrey, England
I have the details of his wife and their mountain of children too, but won't fill this post with all of that.

His parents I believe were
John Taylor
1791–1869
Birth 1791 • Kingsland, Herefordshire, England
Death 23 MAY 1869 • Leominster, Herefordshire, England
And
Martha Taylor
1798–1834
Birth 1798
Death 1834 • Herefordshire, England (no further info on her it's a bit messed up as he married twice and still all a bit confusing) Anyway moving on...........

It is Johns parents I am trying to confirm and any other possible siblings he may of had.. this is what I have but not 100%

William Taylor
1748–1829
Birth 1748 England (THIS IS JUST A GUESS YEAR)
Death 4 MAR 1829  Kingsland, Herefordshire, England
Married I believe a Mary Lawrence 10 May 1771 • Kingsland,Hereford,England

I believe her dates are 1751–1828
Birth 1751 • Randwick Gloucestershire, England
Death 18 NOVEMBER 1828 • Kingsland Herefordshire, England

So it is Johns parents I am looking for if anyone can help? Thanks so much guys

Hi, no answers but are you sure that William Taylor's parents were both born and died in Herefordshire - her only 9 years after his birth, and yet you state that he was born St. James, Westminster.

Do you have any evidence of their being in London at the time of his birth - or at least them not being in Herefordshire where they appear to have been all their lives?

As there appears to be Public Members Tree on Ancestry which states

William TAYLOR married Louisa Victoria Nightingale - 21 August 1862 at St Anne's Limehouse, Middlesex - assume the marriage certificate gave the name of his father etc.

There is a submitted entry on IGI giving this marriage, and the birth place of st James, but the William Taylor born 1825 was baptised in st Anne’s soho.

Maybe this entry is questionable.

There is a William Taylor christened in St James Westminster, but in 1826, I am wondering which one is the right birth.

Hi, no answers but are you sure that William Taylor's parents were both born and died in Herefordshire - her only 9 years after his birth, and yet you state that he was born St. James, Westminster.

Im puzzled by this also

The 1871 census for William TAYLOR has a nephew as an Assistant, John W GUYER aged 22 born Paddington and according to the 'Tree' on Ancestry - his parents were: George GUYER and Louisa TAYLOR - and this marriage is on Ancestry 1848 at Parish Church, Plumstead - and Louisa, says her father: John TAYLOR was a Cheese Manager.

1861 Census, St Luke Middlesex

William TAYLOR - 35 - unmarried, Cheesemonger - born Westminster St James
John E TAYLOR - 32 -  married - Cheesemonger - born Hereford
Elizabeth A TAYLOR (sister-in-law) - 36
George GUYER - 9  - nephew
Frederick GUYER -17 - nephew

etc etc
