tyroughuey district Co Kilkenny- Waterford- or Tipperary
« on: Monday 13 August 18 20:21 BST (UK) »
I have found the death of my Grandmother Alice Tector age 30 in 1926. She died in a district with the spelling of Tyroughuey (perhaps there is a letter missing on my part). Could some kind Roots chat collague please inform me if they can recognise that district and which County is this located in? Not certain if Kilkenny Waterford or Tipperary but somewhere around that area. I am attempting to find the nearest catholic cemetery to this stated area. thanks for any clues.

Tybroughney townland area stretches from close to Carrick-on-Suir town on its west side to Piltown village on its east.  Tybroughney itself is in County Kilkenny, but has a boundary with Co Tipperary on its west and looks like it has a boundary with Co Waterford on south side.

You were right about the spelling ,Tybroughney is in the parish of Templeorum. Piltown is the biggest village in that area. There are three churches in the parish and so probably three grave yards. These would be fairly small so you might have luck in finding her grave. I am not sure how the various parishes keep track of burials. You might try writing to the parish priest. Keep in mind that these Irish parish priests do not have office staff to deal with queries and I know that many of them find that Americans write for information giving very little information! The family name you mentioned is quite unusual that should be a help
