Jane Ann Healds/Martin from Kirkcaldy
« on: Wednesday 15 August 18 12:18 BST (UK) »
I recently found that my G Granma had a sister born: Jane Ann McDonald Healds in 1882 in Kirkcaldy, Fife to Ann McDonald Healds & Alfred Healds.  Jemima's mother died when she was around 6 yrs old and she was taken in my a local family- name of Philp.  Later married Andrew Nicol.
We knew she had a brother called Fred who died in 1917 in WW1, but just discovered that there was a younger sister, aged about 3yrs when their mother died. Her name was Jane Ann Healds. Does anyone know what happened to her?
I have found a marriage certificate from 1911 which names her - but no one in the present family has ever heard of her.  She married an Alexander Martin n Kirkcaldy so she would have been known as Jane Martin.
Did another family perhaps take her in  or adopt her ? Id love to know what happened to her.  I am assuming she was separated from the family. Otherwise she would have been known to us.  My G Granma died in1963 so Jane may have lived into the 1960s. Id love to know what happened to her.  If you are a descendant please get in touch.

Sorry to take as long to reply as I was travelling.
Yes you do have the right family.  Ann's first marriage was a disaster as her new husband disappeared back to sea very soon after and never reappeared.  She spent the rest of  her life with Alfred Healds.  I think you could indeed have found why we cannot find anything more about Jane Ann Healds/Martin.  If she emigrated then she would not have appeared on Cencus returns.  Many thanks for that.
