Thanks Steve.

Didn't know about May Lanchbury's site, I'll check that out.

Just requested a search for Newell in the Bucks PRs & BTs (directly from Madeleine Harvey (no relation) as the search function on the website still isn't working).

I'll also check FindMyPast out when I get a minute.

What I did forget to look at, was the Buckinghamshire Marriage Bonds List, downloaded from the CBS web site. (Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies).

There is a marriage bond granted, 17 Mar 1780.
William Newell aged 24, farmer of Turville, to Mary Atkins, aged 22 of Hambleden.  Bond granted at Hambleden,(Parish of marriage).

Turville, is about 3 miles from Stokenchurch.  Hambleden, is about 2+ miles from Turville.

What I also found, was the following which may, or may not be of interest.
Taken from BucksFHS - Turville Transcripts CD.

Burial - 26 Oct 1809.  William NEWELL, son of Willm Christopher & Eleanor.
Burial -  May 1825.  William NEWELL aged 18, son of William & Eleanor of Tetsworth, Oxon
Burial  - 8 Mar 1838. William Christopher NEWELL aged 55, of Pophleys, Stokenchurch parish.
Burial - 16 Dec 1865.   Eleanor NEWELL, aged 83 of Maidenhead.

Steve -

Just got hold of William Christopher's will from the National Archives, but it's not a lot of use in determining relationships, since he appears to have left everything to his wife and son (also called William Christopher).

Not heard back from Madeleine, maybe she's on holiday. I may try again via the website using another browser, but I'm expecting it not to work.

I left a request in the BucksFHS forum today, for one of my own ancestors, as well as an email. ;D

Hopefully we'll both get some answers soon. ::)
