Dennis Sidney Freeston - Assistant Chief Fire Officer
« on: Thursday 16 August 18 09:46 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I'm researching one of my wife's relatives, Dennis Sidney Freeston b.1917 in Croydon.

I'm told during WW2 he was in the Army Fire Service and then stayed in the fire service after the war. When he died in 1978 he was an Assistant Chief Fire Officer of Cambridge and Peterborough Fire and Rescue Service.

I've been trying to find something in the newspapers to confirm him being the assistant chief but haven't found anything yet.

Can anyone help with records for that fire service or any way of confirming it?

Just in case it helps he is on the 1939 register as Denis S Freisten so their may be other ways his name has been spelt as well.

Thanks a lot,

Michael

Hi Emeltom,

I have now! Thanks a lot, I don't know why I didn't think of that.
