newspaper reporter in 1881
« on: Friday 17 August 18 22:31 BST (UK) »
Hi there, I'm new here - just tracing my family history from around the deal/ramsgate area. I have found that one of my ancestors was a 'newspaper reporter' in 1881, living in Ramsgate at the Lord Nelson pub. I'm wondering if anyone knows how I could find out what newspaper he worked for and, potentially, to read his articles. His name was Walter Alright and he was born in 1859. Many thanks to anyone who might have advice for me!

From The Thanet Advertiser 30th January 1945

Retirement-Aged 85

Mr Walter Allright, one of the best known journalists in Lincolnshire, has retired after 65 years in "print". He was born in Ramsgate 85 years ago and received his training on the Thanet Advertiser. In 1882 Mr Allright went to Sleaford as editor of the Sleaford Journal and has remained in that town until the present day.
