William garnock and sons, grocer dysart.

Hi.  I wonder if anyone has any information or photos about this grocers in dysart and also the garnock family.  William garnock was born in edinburgh but moved to fife and i know there are lots of garnocks in fife so wondered if his family originally from there x

Yes i think that is the william garnock in the death notice and marriage and really helps wth dates.

  I think his son also william garnock also ran the shop but i am not sure how long shop was in dysart for and if any photos etc.

The Fifeshire Advertiser, 27 July 1912, carries a lengthy article headed "THE KIRKALDY AND DISTRICT LICENSED GROCERS' ASSOCIATION'S EXCURSION", and mentions the chairman "William Garnock".

It included " ... wives and sweethearts .... we do not leave them behind when the menfolks are away enjoying themselves"

I get the impression that it must have been quite a big shop and popular if it had been on go for so many years.
