You don't say which census it was but if you look at the other households above and below plus the occupations it might say for example "stable cottage" "groom" that kind of thing to give you a clue.

If it was a large manor house I doubt he would have lived in the house as a gardener.

In 1881 the Manor House is shown at RG11; Piece: 4864; Folio: 79; Page: 1 with two families Charles Corps Age, 62 a gardener, and Mary Corps, 54, Thomas Corps, 19, the other family Robert Emmerson   61, and Mary Emmerson, 62.
You can see the Manor House on the map at https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/452604/508640/12/100571
The Manor House was just occupied by the two families, living there, at that time.
In 1861 and 1871 Charles Corps is just listed as High Street.

The family who owned the Manor House were the Wynne-Finch's. In 1881 the family were apparently living somewhere else. In 1877 there is a notice of a birth to a Heneage  Wynne-Finch at 50 Mantague Square London, probably their town house.

In 1911 there are 11 people living in the Manor House, with Wynne-Finch, and one of them is Mary Corps, age 86, pensioner and widow. The Manor House has 50 Rooms.

If it was a large manor house I doubt he would have lived in the house as a gardener.

In the 1901 Census Mary Corps is listed as being in "Manor Cottage", so this could be where they were living in 1881.
