I did a quick 'global' search but couldn't find anything that looked possible. Nearest in 1841 was an engineer in Lanark with Janet. and  Mary.

Do you know what religion were they?

Hi,

There is a man recorded as Willm Pender age 37 at Clarkston, New Monkland, Lanarkshire on the 1841. He is a labourer and is in the same household as a family called McCallum. He is born outside the county of Lanarkshire.

Forget that man in Clarkston, Kall.

He is still there in 1851 with his mother Janet and a sibling Jane. Funnily enough his place of birth is Dunbartonshire - Cumbernauld.

I agree with Gadget , I think Dumfriesshire and Old Patrick has been as misinterpretation of something else.
