I presume FTM2017 does work in this way but probably only if you synch regularly.  As I do not want to synch my FTM info with my Ancestry tree I don't have the media info anywhere except Ancestry, which I understand that I will lose access to if my sub lapses (the media not the tree).

Just thought a downloaded version of my Ancestry tree to the basic version of RootsMagic might overcome this problem if it downloads all the media too.

Roots Magic media has taken 4GB of space on my computer, definitely saved to it.
