I am looking for information on the birth and marriages? of Benjamin Hosford 1800 - 1881 I believe he married Celia McCreight in 1824 but can find no other details. I think Celia died but can find no record of this and then Benjamin married Mary Donovan in the 1850,s again I can find no record of this. His address at his death was Harpurs Lane Cork. Would be grateful for any help.

Have you searched https://www.irishgenealogy.ie    ??

Just put Surname in and Year Range   nothing else!!  Then Search!

From there Select   Cork

Depending on Religion you can select RC ones or whatever...  from list on Left.

The dates you are looking for are quite a bit before civil registration so much depends on what church records you can find.

Wm. Hosford, son of Benjamin Hosford & Mary Donovan, bapt.1853- LINK

Wife Mary died after Benjamin-https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1881/06444/4851779.pdf

There are one or two Cork and Ross city parishes missing from Irish Genealogy https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/location.jsp?diocese=CORK+%26+ROSS+%28RC%29 so if you don't find them look here
https://registers.nli.ie/#home_map
Not searchable by name.

My ggrandmother was Jane Hosford, born 1825 in Ballinhassig. Several years ago I received a lot of information about the Hosfords from another source and this shows a Benjamin Hosford, born 24 October 1800 to Joseph Hosford (1753-1813) and Elizabeth Fitzgibbon (1757-1822); married 1778.  He was their fourteenth child! Most of the Hosfords in the info seemed to come from the Bandon area and Cork City (mine are from the Ballea area, south of Douglas) and Benjamin is a name used a lot by the Hosfords.  I have no details of the sources of the info.  There is a website bandon-genealogy.com which has info about the Hosfords.  The RC baptisms/marriages and deaths are free on Findmypast and are searchable by name, but you have to be very careful what you type in as your search as a lot of entries which can be found on the NLI site do not appear on here.  Hope this is of some use - or not.....

Just to add, don't assume that your Hosfords were all RC.  My gggrandfather James Hosford, was born Protestant but was baptisted as RC as an adult.  His daughter, Jane, was baptised as RC but married a Protestant in a CofI church, and all their children were baptised as Protestant.  One of my great aunts married a Catholic and their children were brought up as Catholic.  Good luck with your searches!
