Bishopsteignton - Luton - James Yeoman
« on: Sunday 26 August 18 11:18 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me whether a list of monumental inscriptions exists for the church of St John the Evangelist, Luton?

I am interested in James Yeoman, an agricultural labourer, given age 33, who was buried there in March 1865.

Does anyone know who this man was or might have been?

Hi (Amended)

He is not the James born 1836 Bishopsteignton, StoneMason/Bricklayer
living in CHARLES Plymouth 1861 & 1871
Married Mary May
Children Elizabeth/Etty(1858) & Esther(1864)

Also appears to be recorded as Hayman (Masonry Assistant)  in 1841 Kingsteignton

And if he was an agricultural labourer, it is probably unlikely that there would be a monument inscription on a headstone.

This looks like his death registration from the GRO website:-

YEOMAN, JAMES       33
GRO Reference: 1865  M Quarter in NEWTON ABBOT  Volume 05B  Page 109

It may help if you obtain his death certificate to see who the informant was.

Struggling to find him on census records as I don't know where he was born.

Could he be James HAYMAN b 1833 Chudleigh, shown in 1851 and 1861 as an ag lab but unable to locate in 1871? Married to a Sarah with son William born 1858 and still in Bishopsteignton in 1871?

Hi

Yes, I looked at that one too.

There's a James Henry Hayman death in 1863 Newton Abbot.
 ???
