Hi Gaye,
just added another note on the Joseph Colquhoun-Ada Rosina Bishop timeline

IMPORTANT NOTE
There was another Ada Rosina Bishop (1884-1945) in New Zealand, obviously at the same time. Maybe it was this Ada who was born in Somerset?. She married Frederick Ferdinand Stolz (1884-1976) in 1908 and had: 1909 Edna Sophie Stolz, 1915 Ethel Ada Stolz & 1917 Kathleen Dulcie Stolz. Ada & Frederick died in Wellington and were cremated at Karori
'Our' Ada kept her married name and died as Colquhoun in Auckland in 1964

Also, see at link where Ada had a defacto relationship, after she & Joseph separated, with Daniel Joseph Donovan and had two children to him. It could be worth following up on their descendants as well

Lots more now posted on N.Z. thread- very confusing to have to go back & forth between the two threads  :-\

Regarding reply #16 - list of children for Andrew Colhoun & Ann/Nancy Smith (found via link posted there) is not quite correct-
Quote
(the above link shows their children, all born in  Manorcunningham or Ballyhoorisky, Donegal, who emigrated with them)
Rosena Hervey Colhoun born 1873 Carrickballydooey townland- I posted link to her birth registration and link to map showing the townland

Remember that registration of births in Ireland only started in 1864 so for earlier dates you need to see if church records of baptisms exist.
Also, I did query (think on N.Z. topic) is Maria Louisa married first in Ireland.

She may have been actually. I was thinking that last night because she is missing from the passenger list. It would have been a young marriage and she was in NZ by 1883, earlier if she had to meet and marry someone in NZ by then   :).  Other possibility is she met him over there or on board the ship over and married in NZ.
I haven't done an extensive research on Joseph's siblings as yet. Concentrating on him and his wives etc  ;)
This is what I have on her ..
1862 - 1934 Maria Louisa 'Mollie' Colquhoun
Married Timothy Manners (1857-1930) in 1883 & had 11 children
Timothy worked for the Railways. They lived for a time in Westport.
Timothy died in a private hospital in Newtown, Wellington aged 73 and is buried Karori
Maria died in Newton, Auckland and is buried Waikumete

Here's the 1879 marriage for Maria L. Colhoun to George Taylor- her address Ballyboe and father Andrew Colhoun, there's an Annie Smyth as a witness but may just be co-incidence her mother was Smith-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1879/11056/8044805.pdf

Wonder if there's another passenger list with Maria and George coming to N.Z.?

gee, that sounds very like her doesn't it?
The marriage had to have broken down though because she married as Colquhoun. Her husband Timothy Manners was from Londonderry, Northern Ireland. MAYBE, they met and wooed over there then came over to NZ before 1883 to marry with her family around ??

Thanks for finding that (& other stuff)  ;D

I have found a picture of Ada Rosina's bithstone which says she was died in 1964 aged 80 so that would mean she was born in 1884.
