Michael died in Strokestown as far as I can remember. Info came from a funeral report in a local paper  I searched in Roscommon Library which listed the mourners. Re Catherine. Patrick marriage the transcript of the church marriage record shows the parish/district as Strokestown. The Campbell home was at Cagglestack and Carnaska is the nearest church. Today it is part of Strokestown parish.

It might well be in the Parish but you won't find them in Strokestown District as you can see.


You can see they lived miles from Strokestown and in Roscommon District

I can’t find a death for Michael although 1911 census shows that one child has died.

Thank you all for the information. Edward Campbell, Catherine's brother, is my grandfather and that stem is fully known. I was sent a lot of stuff (over 70 pages!) from a member of the Shaughnessy family (Edward's wifes's family) which includes some information on the Campbell line. It includes the comment that Edward was in the British army 1900-1908. I missed this first time round but it adds strength to the Alverstoke marriage. I shall have to get the certificate. I have been to Lissonuffy cemetery where according to Newspaper reports my grandparents are buried but they are not mentioned on any headstone although my g grandmother is and a child who died in 1974 which is when the headstone was redone and all original wording copied.
