Please do let us know. I hope I am wrong  :)

I don’t think your Edward would be  an Army pensioner from his records where the other one was I think.

Marriage cert received this morning. Wrong Edward as his father is James (deceased), thus also not the birth found by Heywood as his father is Patrick. Back to the drawing board! Thanks for all your help.

Oh dear .
I thought I might have found the ‘right’ one with the birth but still the wrong Edward.
From memory,  the military record gave his uncle as n.o.k. although there is the letter from his parent.
He was recalled to Belfast was he, although no one could find him?

Perhaps he was living in the north  :-\

I have revisited the army records to see if I missed anything. I note that although Belfast was where he should have done his reserve training the call up was sent to 9-10 main street Roscommon. The 1911 census has a James O'Connor (50) with his wife Kathleen (39) and daughter Stella. No sign of an Edward. Could this be Uncle James? James was a draper and O'Connor's shop was still there in 1927 as my Uncle Michael Campbell was a manager there when he died aged 26 -from Roscommon Herald Jan 29 1927. Census shows that James had 3 children all still living. None of this takes me any closer to Edward.

Thanks for both messages.
Yes I thought that about uncle James too.

That is a sad funeral report, isn’t it. They didn’t shirk at reporting grief.
