That marriage looks good Jo.

I think this is the couple in 1861 https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q2MP-MCT5  with Edward born Horley Surrey which ties in with this baptism https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NRH9-TMW

This is confusing.....
I can only see two ER born abt 1792....
Your ER bap 1792 in Bramley to John and Martha, married to Mary Howick in 1811
And ER bap 1791 in Newdigate to Edward, beer keeper, found easily on census records, married to Ann Pratt in 1814....

So who is the ER who married Jane Gardener in Godalming in 1817? She is likely the Jane who was buried in Godalming in 1835, age 42.

Moving along - where can I find these?
Your ER bap 1792 in Bramley to John and Martha, married to Mary Howick in 1811
And ER bap 1791 in Newdigate to Edward, beer keeper, found easily on census records, married to Ann Pratt in 1814....

I can see a Charlotte, Mary, Jesse and a John on Family search whose parents are John and Martha but not Edward?

Mary Risbridger who died pre 1851, two possibilities on Genes United which is the site I have use of at the moment and I also use 'family search'.
Apr>Jun 1844, Reigate, Surrey
Oct>Dec 1848, Guildford, Surrey

Many thanks

Hi Bronwen

Un on the census means Unmarried but could just mean that the person was unmarried at the time of the census as both Edward and Margaret (the image looks like Mary Ann) in 1861 were listed as Un and both had lost a previous spouse     I think is the first marriage of Mary Ann to John Grevatt https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N28W-4D7   and a John Grevatt age 40 died in Guildford in 1849

Re possible deaths for Edward R's first wife Mary try using the GRO Death Index https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp   You have to register but it is free and free to search and the age of the person is listed.   You might also find their birth index useful as the child's mother's maiden name is listed.

Both possible bapt for Edward R are on Family Search  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NKTF-J4H   and  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NPYT-9KM   but given his father is named as John on his 1856 marriage the first looks the most likely    Possible marriage of his parents at Wonersh not far from Farncombe https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NV3X-FJR    And Family Search has a possible burial for Martha Risbridger age 71  29 July 1832 at Godalming, Surrey

Great thanks I will have a look at all that and come back when I have figured it out...

I thought afterwards it meant unmarried, silly me.

I knew about the GRO index but I haven't really used it and din't realise it was free.

Okay I have now gone through all that but haven't proceeded to the GRO index yet.

In the 1851 census it says Edward Risbridger (born 1792) was born in Guildford and somewhere else it said he was born in Wornesh.

I assume - I know one should never assume anything when studying ones family tree...
that the three children (parents John & Martha) at the end are siblings to Edward, Martha and Elizabeth and that the family moved to Wornesh - I did have a look at the map and this seemed likely.

Many thanks for helping me with all this
