Bletchley baptisms c1880-1900 - what do the records contain?
« on: Thursday 30 August 18 17:43 BST (UK) »
I know the registers are in the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies at Aylesbury.
I know (from a few indexes/partial transcripts) that they have name, baptism date, names of parents and occupation of father.

BUT - do they also include date of birth?

If anyone happens to know, I'd be most grateful for the knowledge - I'm trying to work out if it's worth me trekking over to Aylesbury.  (I have several names to check)

Many thanks
Philip

Some do, some don't have dates of birth.  For the most part, it's no.

The baptisms will contain whatever the Clerk saw fit.   Usually parents names, and fathers occupation. Sometimes where they live in the town or Village, and maybe if the child dies soon after baptism.
There is also a possibilty they were not baptised, unless you've found transcripts(which hardly ever show details).

You never know until you look.

I would have suggested a look up from BucksFHS, for £1, but their website function for look ups is down at the moment, and has been for several weeks.

This is typically what you may find (BucksFHS-Stoke Mandeville PR's CD), which is a reflection of what's in the register...............!!

Baptism - 25 Nov 1759.  Ann daughter of Charles & Mary ASHBY
Baptism - 25 Nov 1798.  Ann illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth ASHBY

Baptism - 1870.  Catharine child of William & Elizabeth IVES of Weston Turville, Threshing Machine Driver.
Baptism - 25 Dec 1866.  William child of William & Elizabeth IVES of Stoke Mandeville, Publican (The Bull) & Carrier.

Many thanks for replying.

I suspected that might be the case.

I think I'll wait until I have other records to check in Aylesbury and add them on as a "just in case they are useful" afterthought.
