« on: Friday 31 August 18 02:19 BST (UK) »
My paternal grandfather William Bell Ferguson (Butcher) 1870-1905, married Elizabeth Ann Robinson(Lilley) 1899 Waterside Presbyterian church Glendermott, His father was James Ferguson (Farmer) Abt 1840, married to Hannah(annah)Ferguson married 1861 Glendermott. I am having trouble going back any further, I have no births/deaths for either James or Hannah, I believe their fathers were Samuel and Daniel respectfully. Any help/pointers would be gratefully received. Thanks

1861 marriage certificate should list names and occupations of both fathers.

Civil registration of births started in 1864 so since James and Hannah died after that date (son was born 1870) you can search for death registration here (by end of this year all deaths should be available to view online)-

Registration of births also started in 1864 so there will be no birth records before 1864. You'll need to search for church records (baptisms) but not all records survive and of those that do not all are online.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
