Thank you so much. I am surprised my grandma was able to vote in 1926,she was over 30 ,but I don’t think she had property.
I am going to struggle to find out where my Dad attended school, as Writtle doesn’t seem to have an old school. Also how do I find out if my grandparents were school caretakers, there doesn’t seem to be a school in Writtle.

It had a boys and girls school(s) apparently. A group called Writtle Archives produced a book in 2010 called Educating Writtle School Days and Childhood Memories.
Is it still available?
Maybe someone connected can help, a list here (hope it's still useful)

Wow this is interesting stuff!! My Dad died when I was only 2 and my Mum when I was 16, so I have spent a long time trying to find out about my Dad, his step Dad Arthur Lisburne and Mum Hettie.
My Dad was a multi instrumentalist and singer and had dance bands in Plymouth. He was probably too young to be in the music scene in Writtle, but just in case he is in any articles, he was William Arthur John West aka Lisburne. Thanks again for all this it’s just brilliant.

Hi
Well, it's lucky you mentioned that. I was pondering whether to add this (it's the only other Lisburne mention I could see)
Essex Chronicle, Friday 3 April 1931, page 2
Art School Prizes at Chelmsford
Principal's Report, Bishop's Address etc (quite long)
It's the prize distribution of the Chelmsford School of Science and Art (at the Shire Hall, Chelmsford on Tuesday evening)
Prize Winners (lots of names)
Certificate Winners
including W. A. J. Lisburne

If you ever want to register for the British Newspaper Archive they give you 3 page views (downloadable) for free! They wont require any financial details or anything like that
https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/account/register
.
But WAJ Lisburne doesn't seem to come up in the search results (I got it from another version) but you could just put "Art School Prizes at Chelmsford" into the search, that would find it in 1931. The room letting is in more than one paper. This was just looking for "Lisburne" (exact) in Essex only.

Arthur appears to also go by the surname Flatman - according to the probate entry for Arthur Burnett Flatman or Lisburne died Plymouth 1955. Definitely yours as the executor is WAJ West

I am only looking for Essex records,I have everything else.

Out of curiosity, as you say you have everything other than the Essex stuff - was Arthur’s first (youthful) marriage as Arthur Burnett Flatman to Daisy May Neal (1908 Newbury) and was she still living when he married Hettie?  I see a Daisy M Flatman death in Ipswich in 1968, aged 78*

*Actually the Ipswich death looks likely to be of a different person - wife of a Gurney Flatman.
