Walsh Articlave
« on: Saturday 01 September 18 23:22 BST (UK) »
I've had some great help from this site already. Looking information from the other side of the family. We are looking birth information for a John Walsh believed born 7th April 1923 in Articlave to Rachel Walsh, maiden name Platt. Also we would like to find a birth record for Eliza/Elizabeth Platt also lived in Articlave. We think she was born 1861. She is Rachel Walsh's nee Platt, mother. Rachel platt  was born 17 September 1887 we think but we can only find a birth record for Eliza Platt with that date of birth .

Parents for Esther Walsh b. 1907 (the 3 year old in the previously posted 1911 census record) given as William Walsh and Rachel Farren:

William Walsh married 'Rachel Platt Farn' several months earlier, her father given as 'John Farn', railway porter:

This is the (illegitimate) birth you are referring to, Eliza Platt on 18 September 1887:

A Rachel Elizabeth Farren was baptised in Castlerock Presbyterian Church on 2 February 1888, birth date given as 17 September 1887, parents given as John Farren and Eliza Platt, despite the birth date being 1 day out, pretty well solid confirmation.

I wonder is this the John Farren referred to?

John (properly William John) married Alice Doherty about 7 months after Rachel Elizabeth Platt Farren was born:

Hi thanks for your replies, much appreciated. I found the Platt family in you mentioned on the census 1901 and 1911. It was Rachel birth that I got stuck at. Thanks my mum will be very interested to hear this about the baptism. Rachel is her granny.
