See my earlier post  ;D

Auchencairn grave yard:

The plan suggests that the grave is about 1/3 to 1/2 way down on the east side of the grave yard

Wm Clint d. Auchencairn 1.6.1888, 96
w Sarah Hyslop d. Auchencairn 18.2. 1879,84
s Jas d Auchencairn d 19.7.1828, 16m
s Peter d Auchencairn 31.10.1844, 11
da Mary d. Auchencairn 15.1.1858, 26
gda Jane d Anarlay London 22.3.1902
da Elizabeth d Auchencairn 31.10.1931, 97

Note that it is quite usual for married women to be referred to by their maiden surname.

Wow!, this is a lot to digest. Let me go through this and check with my cousins.
I'm in awe of what you've come up with.

Mary Clint's  baptism in 1831, giving Sarah's maiden name as Hyslop

Gadget,

I was going over e-mails with my cousins from years past and found one from five years ago in which my oldest cousin mentions—“My version of what I know about Grandmother Mary Brown. Understood she was illegitimate and grew up with cousins . . .”
He goes on to talk about her travels across Canada and many of the difficulties she faced.
The mention of “illegitimate” falls in place with what you’ve found.

Again thanks for your assistance.

Birth registration for this Mary Jane Brown:

Mary Jane Brown (illegitimate)
Born 20 June 1878 at 4 am, Auchencairn village.
Mother - Margaret Brown, Cook.
Informant - Janet Hughan, aunt. Present

Now to find which of the Clints was Margaret's mother.

A bit of a descrepancy with yr of death for Mary (SP)...

CLINT MARY 26 (also registered as Brown)
HYSLOP (mms)

I wonder who this is, looks to be illegitimate?

CLINT MARGARET MCKIE 1
