In last year's thread we found George bpt Chirk, August 1814. Parents were Thomas and Ann.

Added - Also the 1861 in St Martins (after Elizabeth's death) has him born Chirk in 1814.

hello william as you can see by the advice asked and revived by gadget the persons i am looking for at the moment are elizabeth pritchard nee roberts.born circa 1814 llantisilio
we now know george married elizabeth in 1832 llangollen by licence "under age we think "
they did have a son samuel born abt 1834 to 1836 in chirk
george gives his father as thomas on his marriage certificate and gadget has made a good argument for him to be from oswestry.

I've been reviewing the info:

The children that we know of:
(born Chirk except the last two)
Ellen b.c. 1834
Samuel 1836
Sarah 1839
George 1845
John 1848
Mary 1851 b. St M
Thomas 1854 b. St M

Elizabeth died in 1857, aged 44, 'of Gledrid/St Martins'  buried Chirk, so they must have moved soon after the 1851 census.

I'm wondering how we have Elizabeth born Llantysilio.

The first definite we have is her marriage to George where it states that she is of the parish of Llangollen.

The 1841 in Chirk  has her born county (i.e. Denbighshire)
The 1951 is strange as it states that George was born Llantysilio and Elizabeth  was Llandrillo, Merionethshire.
George born Chirk on the 1861.

We decided last year that the info had been muddled and that it was Elizabeth, rather than George, who was most likelyto have been born in Llantysilio. However, we have no proof. The children's names don't give any real help.  It might be that she really didn't know where she was born. Llangollen was only  the parish she was resident in at her marriage and is no proof that she was born there.

I think further searching is needed.

Just to add about Selattyn -

I had ancestors who lived very close to Selattyn at Orseddwen  but this was in the parish of Llangollen. They often used Selattyn as their nearest church.

Nothing in the entry to say where this Roberts family lived  but worth thinking about.

thanks for all your research in this gadget.
by the looks of it perhaps in fact the marriage is as far back as we can go with factual evidence.
will certainly look into your research though.and try and find a link
thanks again.brian
