« on: Tuesday 04 September 18 10:04 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know of this man?  Luther Stones.    Parents Robert Stones and Betsey nee Kitchen/ Stones.
Have found a note of his birth but nothing further.  Can anyone help please.  Thanks & Regards - Dinny.

He's on the 1861 census with his family at the Globe Inn in Minningsby

Is he perhaps Arthur Stones , baptised 25 April 1856 at New Bolingbroke , son of Robert Stones , innkeeper, and Betsey . Arthur married Lucy Charity in 1881 , where Robert Stones is now described as a butcher.

1871 census

Arthur Stones b 1857 New Bolingbroke , boarder , butcher's son & scholar

 RG10; Piece: 4719; Folio: 157; Page: 35

" Arthur " is not on the 1861 census with his family and " Luther " doesn't appear anywhere else.

I think Christine has cracked it. Robert Stones is of course a butcher in the 1871 census too.

NB Arthur's wife is Kate (not Lucy) Charity per the marriage register (Boston parish church 19 May 1881)

Hi Christine - The surname Fagg appears on your list of names.   This surname is connected with my Stones of Luther's generation.   I had a great uncle, Mark Arthur Stones, known as Arthur.  He was the son of one of Luther's brothers and visited his English family on leave whilst serving in France during WW1.  Would you have anything further to say?    Thanks for your replies - regards Dinny.

Hi Christine - Apologies to you.  I have just gone through my records and found the surname to be Vagg, not Fagg although some sources refer to the name as Fagg.    I am going with Vagg.  Sorry to mislead.  Regards - Dinny.

There were both a Luther Stones and an Arthur Stones in this family father, Robert (butcher) -  mother Betsy nee Kitchen (or variants)  viz:

1856 Luther Stones b. 1856 in Minningsby, Lincs England
1857 Arthur Stones b. 1857 New Bolingbroke, Lincs England.

A total of 14 children in this family that I was able to find.

At 58 years in 1914, Luther would have been too old for the conflict in 1914-18.
Unable to find him attached to earlier conflicts Britain may have been involved in so, what happened to him?   Unable to find his death in the UK.

Robert & Betsy had a child almost every year from 1851 onwards.  Two boys were registered in 1856 and 1857 respectively.

I am a descendant of James b. 1855 who had as many children, names reflected in those of his Lincolnshire family, except the Christian name Luther.    A mystery.    Regards Dinny.
