i have joined paradata, who have acknowledged part of military service. I suppose a long shot was finding another person recognising a similar timeline match. The RN number I have not been able to find. How do I get the full naval history and will there be a list of ships he sailed with, in particular the D Day landings.

https://www.nmrn.org.uk/research/finding-service-records gives guidance on how to obtain a Service Record.

I've only ever bought Army records, so I don't know exactly what Navy records would contain.  I would be very surprised if they did not have dates for all/any promotions and names of all ships served on.

Unfortunately, there are no online Service Records for people serving after 1924.

His RN service record should contain, a list of ships and shore establishments that he served on and should include the D Day landings.

HMS DUKE at Great Malvern was a shore base. It was a training establishment which provided tented accommodation for new entry Stokers.
