Florence Beryl EBBOTT (Ebbitt) passenger arrival 1880 Lyttelton

I am writing a short bio on Florence as she was one of the signatories to the 1893 Women's Suffrage Petition.  I have no family connection with her.

I am looking for details of her arrival in NZ and the names of her parents only.

Florence Beryl EBBOTT (Ebbitt - other possible spellings also) was born c 1864 Dublin, Ireland and was 16 years of age at the time of her marriage in 1880 (details from her d/c - informant was Undertaker).
She married Edmund Maurice VIGERS on 4 March 1880 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Phillipstown, Christchurch. 
According to the Intention to Marry Notice she arrived in Christchurch 3 days prior to her marriage  (details from Manager of a Family Tree on Ancestry)
I have looked at Ancestry Public Member Trees.  Also I have been in contact with a person who has recorded family information on Family Search.  Neither of these people have been able to provide additional information.
Florence Beryl Vigers died on 2 October 1950 and Edmund Maurice Vigers on 7 July 1942 in Waimate.  Both are buried in the Waimate Old cemetery, Waimate, South Canterbury.

Thanks Minniehaha for your postings and links to other information.
Sometimes you do have to research other family members to find that information you want but with this search so far I have drawn a blank.

I have looked at Paperspast - Lyttelton Times and the Press (28 Feb - 8 March 1880) looking for ship arrivals.  I found one ship, the barque "Stracathso" ex London, there could be others, which arrived on 2 March 1880 and had 100 passengers on board.  So far I have not found a passenger list for this vessel.

I also found on Paperspast a death notice for a William Vigers (brother of Edmund?) who died on 26 February 1880.  If so interesting that Edmund married a few days later!

Part quote from first post.....

This, if correct, does not necessarily mean that she arrived in New Zealand, 3 days prior to her marriage. Just that she had been living in the area where she was to marry, for that length of time.

Just speculation ..... could be he was engaged before the brothers death.  Another speculation ... perhaps she arrived on another ship, she could have been travelling with another family as a Nursery maid, and if the latter was the case, her name might not have been recorded, as I said, all speculation, but you have to think outside the box.

I agree with Mckha489, getting to Christchurch in 2 days was pushing it, and I think, when the ship entered the waters, the passengers didn't necessarily leave the ship that day, sometimes they stayed on board for a few days before embarking, tides etc.

Thanks all for your postings.  Something to think about!
I went back and had another look at her d/c which states that she had been in NZ 70 years - her age at the time of death was 86 years so it appears that she arrived in NZ as a 16 year old.

I wonder if she came on her own as possibly a domestic servant or with family members?
