Hi Wendy,

If you want the names of the parents, I think it may be worthwhile posting on the Irish Board.  They will most likely have resources that we can't put our fingers on.

While looking on FamilySearch I came across Mary Ebbitt, 17 years and Elizth Ebbitt 18 years, both a GI Servant and from Dublin.  They sailed from London on the ship "Hereford" on 31 October 1877 and arrived in Lyttelton on 19 January 1878.

I have not as yet found any connection to Florence!

I think you need to see the marriage certificate, 1880.  I do not think that Florence was 16 at marriage. Information many years later (death record) is not so reliable. It would be useful to see her age, some time before her death.

Beryl was a popular name in the late Victorian era.....late 19th century. It does not sound like a name that Florence, born earlier would have. I suspect that she has given herself that name.

And Florence might also have named herself Florence when she arrived in NZ.....sounds fancier than......what?

I think that Mary EBBITT 17, and Elizabeth EBBITT 18, arriving "Hereford" Jan 1878 are worth a closer look.
