C of E Church Baptism in Heywood Rochdale
« on: Wednesday 05 September 18 10:35 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, I've been doing some research, with the help of Rootschat, in to a family member called Abraham Entwistle born in Heywood in 1877, first child of Thomas Entwistle and Ellen Entwistle nee Logan. Abraham was born at 1 Schofield Street in Heywood. A few years later the family all moved to Oldham and all his younger siblings were baptised at Oldham Parish C of E church.

I have lots of information about his later life (army and prison records etc) but would really like to know if he was baptised as well. I'm guessing that if he was baptised it would have been at St John the Evangelist in Heywood (as its the only C of E church in the area that I can find which was open at the time) but i've no idea if any records are available or where they may be held.

Is anybody able to enlighten me please?

Many thanks, Luke

You're welcome. If you haven't come across the site before it may help with other research although it is nowhere near a complete record for Lancashire. Also there is www.freereg.org.uk which has some Lancashire coverage as well.
