John was b 1914 so even his son Bryan will possibly be history too. Records in Papers are public. Things have changed considerably & it is really difficult now in looking

Any obit will only give you the christian names of relatives/friends - not their addresses

John died 7.11.2000 and probate was granted 18.12.2000.  Buying a copy of his will may give you some info re children etc

Would this definitely not break some rule about data protection?  Are we not expected to get someone's permission now before posting even their name if they might still be alive?

Is it known for definite if posting an obituary from a newspaper as this 'recent' date -  literally copying it line for line, would not breaching copyright?

I think I am in a position to help the next time I am able spend a little time at the library and I certainly would like to help .. but I need to be sure I would not be breaking any rules/laws which might get me into trouble.

(Incidendentally, my Dad was born in 1913 and I (as the last and late child am still around) ;D 're post 9

John was single but I think he married out of the Felling area & came back as matches are hard.

Looking on freebmd at likely births for the son the only marriage seems to be 1940 and the birth 1941 so it’s very likely the son is still alive.  My husband was b 1941 and is still going strong  ;D

Hi Carole
The only reason I thought it was n't Gateshead is because its hard to match.
There was a Trott Mother for Bryan b June 1950Q...but the marriage was for a Joseph.  Heworth was Durham NE some of the time I think

Hi

I checked all births for son from 1839 onwards but none of the mmn’s matched to a John Robson marriage except the one in 1940.

Also - the birth I mentioned should be 1942 not 1941 - sorry!!

The will is your best lead I think
