West Virginia 1880-1940
« on: Wednesday 05 September 18 19:59 BST (UK) »
Hello! After my wife and I took an ancestry DNA test we have been really thrilled and intrigued. I started tracing my paternal geneaology 8 years ago amd came a long way. So now with my help, my wife has built a motivation and  passion to trace her maternal genealogy. To leave the story and legacy to our children to keep alive for many more generations.

That being said, I absolutely LOVE that this site was created and there are so many helpful and insightful members here gathered together. Thank you it is refreshing to know our history will not be lost and forgotten in time.

My wife name is Cassandra. Her great grandmother was

-Myrtle Adkins [(Massey)maiden name]
Born Aug. 9 1925
Died 2006
By age 14 she was living on Cabin Creek Kanawha county West Virginia.

-siblings
Edith
Mable
James

Myrtle (Massey) Adkins:
Father: John William Massey died before 1940
Mother: Rose Elizabeth Perdue or Purdue born between 1890-1905

We are having trouble finding the parents of Rose Perdue (Purdue) married surname Adkins

Thanks for any help!!

There is a tree at Family Search that has all the information on this family with sources linked.

Don't see a need to copy & paste what work someone else has done.

Here's the link:

We have tried to find Rebecca Bowder in census records and any records and I can't come up with anything..

I know you've been told to take no notice of me and pay me never mind.

I have lived in WV and spent most of my life in Virginia, so I do know a little about the area.

Prior to the Cival War, West Virginia did not exist and Kanawha County was part of Virginia.

This is Rebecca with her family in the 1850 census.

1850 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M8D4-563

Here is the family in the 1860 census,. Rebecca is no longer at home.

1860 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M41Z-NDF

The tree that I linked to doesn't have this, but Rebecca & Robert Pauley got married in 1857 Ohio.

Marriage: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XD4K-WV3

Rebecca &  Robert in 1860 census with son George W., Remember from the 1870 census son George W was born in Ohio.
