West Virginia 1880-1940

We have tried to find Rebecca Bowder in census records and any records and I can't come up with anything..

I know you've been told to take no notice of me and pay me never mind.

I have lived in WV and spent most of my life in Virginia, so I do know a little about the area.

Prior to the Cival War, West Virginia did not exist and Kanawha County was part of Virginia.

This is Rebecca with her family in the 1850 census.

hey I really appreciate it alot. Yes I have discovered the origins of west Virginia. You both have been a huge help. I'm still stuck on my Bay family genealogy. It nice to see some progress with my wife's though. I hope to find a record with Nancy Browder's maiden name.

The Nancy A listed on the 1850 census was probably some error in communication with who provided the information. It should be Mary A., as the 1860 census has her listed.

In the 1850 census there is a son John listed age 0.  In the 1860 census he is not listed. He died in 1854. His parents are listed as Thomas and Mary on the death record.

Have you got access to ancestry ? Noticed a family tree which suggests that Thomas Browder born 1777 married to Mary Spain may be the father of Thomas Browder born 1800.

Thomas A. Browder Sr - 1779 Dinwiddie, Dinwiddie, Virginia, passed away 1855 - Virginia.  Sadly no source.

Could be this one - food for thought anyway.

Strange ..something looks different about these two, supposedly identical post??

Oh!!... I see now. Someone went back and added a link to that post after that linked information was posted later in the thread.

Kinda funny.. the post states "Virginia Marriages", but the link that was added later is to West Virginia marriages source for that county....oops, I guess someone for got to change that part.
