I am wondering if I canfind a little more about this ancestor.
He served in Ireland, Poona, Quetta, Bangalore, Isle of Wight, and most of his time as 1st Class Sergeant Instructor in Gymnastics, in charge of Garrison Gymnasium Western Heights, Dover
See here http://fp.cotswan.plus.com/TEBishop.htm - this includes a picture, sorry the dots don't scan in too well!
Time period 1881-1902

Any suggestions for research?

Thanks

Bob

Well everything there is based on a booklet he wrote himself!
I'm sure it is probably correct, but I've little idea if more can be found, and it would be nice to cross check

The booklet  was sold IIRC for 6d in the early 1900's

He was related to my paternal grandmother, I think her father's cousin
