Hi Keelan,

Ancestry has them. Canada Voters Lists 1935-1980. They are hit and miss. They don't give you a lot of information, just name, occupation (sometimes), and residence.
https://search.ancestry.ca/search/db.aspx?dbid=2983

I don't see Allan after 1940. Peter remains in Wembley, last seen in 1968.

You can try an email to the local libraries for obituaries or guidance in tracing them.

Sexsmith

There is also South Peace Archives, which covers Wembley and Sexsmith. They may be able
to help.

John, William, Thomas, James, & Margaret remained in the UK.

Their parents were John McKenzie & Mary Cook, both from Campbeltown in Argyllshire, Scotland. They arrived in Halifax Nova Scotia on April 3rd, 1927.

Hi DB,

I do know that the family were always back and forth visiting each other. I have never seen these passenger lists before though, so am thrilled! I had heard a family story that my great aunt's Isobel & Mary were meant to originally travel on a ship that was torpedo'd during the war, but my great grandfather changed their travel plans at last minute, and we have a photo of them together on this ship, either heading to, or from Canada, looking like models I must say.

I have not seen James McKenzie on many records, as he was killed in 1944 in Haifa, Israel. He was a Leading Seaman.

I wonder, whilst I am in a chat forum for Canada, if anyone would be able to help me with another relative of mine.

Annabella McKenzie, she was my 2x Great Aunt (Aunt to Tina/Mary, etc).

She was born 14 June 1890 in Campbeltown, and married William Edward Black (1889 - ?) on 25 April 1919. They had 5 children that I know of, whom are all now deceased.

John Black. 1920 - 6 May 1926 (Died in Montreal)
Robert William Mustarde Black. 31 December 1924
Ian Black. 2 May 1927 - 7 January 2012 (Montreal)
Aurella Black.
Douglas Black.

I know that Annabella died in Canada after the 1950's, but other than that I have no information on her or her family.

Hi Keelan,

Your McKenzie's are interesting, fishermen and yet they come to the middle of Northern Canada.
Having those photos are...priceless.

You may wish to consider having your post for Annabelle and family moved to a new topic.
That way your Eastern McKenzie's don't get lost in the fray of your Western McKenzie's.
Click on report to moderator, (bottom right) and ask them to move it to a new topic.

The Prince George Citizen newspaper has some limited coverage online. In 1985/1998 and
2000 there are photos of a Mary Howden. It's hard to say if she is yours, but as far as I can
see on voters lists, there is only one "Howden" listed in Prince George area.

DB,

I have no idea why they went to Canada. But on the ship manifest, are 2 sisters of my great grandmother (Mary McKenzie nee Cook) who are also emigrating with their families too. These families I also have no idea about what became of them. Margaret McNeill & Family, and Elizabeth Campbell & Family.

When the men came back from Canada, they went back into the fishing business, and my great grandfather died aboard a fishing vessel in 1950.

I have also found these photo's of Mary Howden and there is no doubt she is my great aunt, the resemblance in her old age is uncanny to her siblings.

Do you think it would be best to just start a new topic with the query about Annabella Black nee McKenzie?

Sure, start a new post, and add Montreal in the title. You can then ask the moderator to delete
your original post.

You can also create another post for Margaret and Elizabeth. They might as well be in one post
as they are sisters. Running three posts should keep your busy. ;D

Excellent.... about the photos of Mary.
