Baptisms for sons of Thomas Stephenson & Ann Garner

Thomas STEPHENSON  & Ann GARNER had three sons.  The family was living in  Leicester. 

• Thomas William 1st Q 1862 [Volume: 7A; Page: 180]
  John Henry baptised in 03 Jul 1870 St Mary's
  and Edward T said to be born about 1875 but cannot locate him

I have located John Henry but a baptism for the other two seems elusive so hoping for some assistance.  There was an Edward James whose birth was registered in 1874 Leicester but no Edward T.  Perhaps there was a mistake in the census record.

The boys mother died in 1875 aged 36.

Thomas William and John Henry were both baptised 3 July 1870 at St Mary de Castro, parents Thomas and Ann. Abode Gray Street Occupation Baker.

Can't see anything so far for Edward.

Thats amazing as I must have missed Thomas William.

I noticed a lot of families baptised a number of children at the same time.  Was there some reason at this particular point in history that saw many families baptising a number of children at the same time?
