James Campbell on the baptism entry  is most likely to be from the parish of Little Dunkeld, otherwise it would say which parish  in the entry.

I used to drive the route from Dunkeld to Killin many times a year when I lived in the North.  It was a more scenic route to Glasgow, avoiding most of the A9  ;D

Quite a lot of forest planting has been undertaken over the years so that a small settlement or house could  have disappeared before  the earliest OS maps. The older maps don't seem to show it either  :-\

Good Morning Gadget

Thank you for finding Salachill, and the head of households. I have very little information on James born 1771, his baptism records his father (another James) from Salachill (could it be it's his father that is recorded as head of household) and other than the children's baptism records in Logeirait from 1791, and the recording on their death certificates as being a Merchant in Logeirait. One of his sons John remarries for a second time in 1856 and James is recorded as deceased. I have not be able to trace a death for him, so far. I have checked the Memorial Inscriptions for Logierait Churchyard, Hillhead, Dunkeld Cathedral, Birnam and Dunkeld.

Regards
Moo
ps Your help is very much appreciated. Wish I had known about Salachill when is was in Dunkeld last week  :( I would loved to have walked among the ruins.
