What were her 'sisters 'names ? Could they or Mary  have come from a second marriage were they older ?

Hope you find more connections .

She only had one sister called Elizabeth Moore who married Thomas Southern. On Elizabeth’s marriage certificate her father Michael Moore is listed as deceased. Mary was born 1861, Elizabeth 1867 so it is possible they had different Fathers and that is what I am leaning towards, it is just a case of proving it either way.

1911 shows Mary born abt 1858.
In other thread, I thought that ‘Atky’ might be short for Abbeyleix but I think it now is more likely to be the parish of Athy which borders Laois and Kildare.

Were the two sisters Catholic?

Have you found the son’s birth?

Hi,

I don’t know for sure but I highly doubt that the two sisters were Catholic as my grandfather who ended up being brought up by Mary for a short time and then by Elizabeth wasn’t. Joseph his father was definitely CofE as I have a confirmation certificate that belongs to him.

I cannot find a birth record for Mary & Joseph’s son who is also named Joseph. I have been trying to find a baptism record but I have had no luck up until now.

I am not totally discounting her but I am fairly certain I have been down this road before but cannot find in my notes how I discounted her. I have a feeling her child might have had a different name.

I have recently done an ancestry DNA test and I am hoping that that might help find somebody who is connected with this side of the family.

Thanks Redmoore.

Is it right that your Joseph Redding gave his father as Joseph Redding, Land Steward?

It is a puzzle.
