Births 1940 onwards
« on: Wednesday 12 September 18 14:35 BST (UK) »
Is it possible to find the maiden names of mother's who had children while their spouses were in the Army? I've a John Austin Clifford who married Patricia O' C Finigan in 1940 at Wellington according to the British Army overseas indices but can't tell whether they had any children?

My son was born overseas in the 1970s my husband being in the RAF - my maiden name is not down on the overseas births. He does have a UK birth cert. with where he was born with all normal details but MMN wasn't written down on the register.

So medpat, they would have births registered here in the UK as well?

will give you registered births, but the mother's maiden name is not on the index.

My birth is on this register (no mmn) but my birth certificate (military issue) has full details of my mum on it.  There wasn't an additional registration in the UK.

OK - I know this isn't relevant to the question, but:
(another Rootschatter friend) - daughter of a woman born British Military Hospital Nicosia
philipsearching (me) - born British Military Hospital Nicosia
medpat - parent of child born British Forces (BMH?) Nicosia

Bingo!  Full House!   ;D ;D ;D
