John Mansell
« on: Friday 14 September 18 09:55 BST (UK) »
Good Evening checking on John Mansell ancestors from Turkdean Gloucestershire, I have his baptism date 30/11/1670 married to Ann Cook 27/11/1710 burial 17/5/1729. I have his parents down as Henry Mansell and Sarah Spencer, but these names don't appear on the CD I purchased of marriages in Gloucestershire. :-[ :-\

Regards,
Janet :-X

Ancestry has transcribed the name of the father two ways

Edward and Henry

Looking at the Original - it does seem to read Edward

and a sibling

Edward MANSELL christened at Turkdean 29 January 1673 - parents Edward & Sarah

However, there are two books for Turkdean - the second transcript of marriages, names John's parents and Henry & Sarah

There is an earlier baptism  at Turkdean: 31 August 1669 - Anna MANSELL daughter of Henry & Sarah

Sometimes, whoever go afterwards to put the entry into the register: does get muddled between what the child is called and who the father/mother's names - the child is occasionally called the father or mother's name.
