My suggestion would be to ask Leicestershire Records Office if they have the records for that particular village/town.

They're usually pretty helpful.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

I should have added, and my apologies:

Not sure why you are insisting on PM communication.  We all understand that these things are delicate BUT you are asking for general advice on how to access such records.

By solely asking for PM communication you are depriving others of finding a possible route to obtaining similar information from their particular areas.  :-X

Not being rotten Bumble B or attempting to upset anyone.

I have argued in the past with my close rellies regarding this and they would be upset if names were plastered all over the net.  I do not want to cause upset.

sorry to be a pain..

If you feel its again best left then I will ask mods to delete my request.

It is NOW just a very personal search.

I think I have a cd of bastardy records at home, although I can’t check until this evening. Would you feel able to pm me any details, Xinia, because I can’t look without them!

Maybe the way around sharing info for others benefit yet also keeping it private it to say that yes, resource x contains relevant information for various places between these dates - or not, as the case may be.

If the village is in the Hinckley Union Bastardy cases would be heard in the Market Bosworth petty sessional hearings.
