CARTER. Chesterfield Derbyshire

Charlotte Carter  born 1806 married William Edley 16th May 1828  Chesterfield.  Witness Thomas Carter, Could this be her Father.  Trying to find details of Charlottes  Parents and any other Family Members of the CARTER Family.  Help Appreciated.

According to the census returns she was born around 1810 in Sheffield but I can find no record to support that either in Yorkshire or Derbyshire.

According to the marriage William Edley was from the Parish of Sheffield, Charlotee was 'otp' eg Chesterfield. Marriage is on FreeReg.

If you look at all the other Carters in Chesterfield they are all children of Thomas and Dorothy Carter baptised around her birth year.They have a son Thomas born c 1805 which looks like the witness at the wedding.
There is a Charlotte Carter bapt 16.7.1802 d of Joseph and Mary Carter there.
But obviously that is a bit early.

  Charlotte was born in Chesterfield she married my Gt Gt Grandfather William Edley and moved to Sheffield after marriage.  I came across Thomas Carter married to Dorothy and a fair number of children, however I can't be 100% that they are the right family.
   I appreciate all your replies. Thank you for your time.

Be careful as there were 2 Charlotte Carter Marriages in Chesterfield close together;
Yours to William Edley 16 May 1828 and another to James Crosher 20 Apr 1829.

As Colin pointed out Charlotte Edley nee Carter was born Sheffield on Census.

So Charlotte 1802 may be yours or the one who married James Crosher.

I would try and find Thomas Carter and Wife Anne on Census to establish his pob/dob if I was you.

   Charlotte that married William Edley is the correct one. They are my Gt Gt Grandparents.  Little puzzled why it says Charlotte born Sheffield.  There appears to be a lot of errors regarding dates and even names when it comes to genealogy. I think some people just play guessing games.  I have researched Thomas and Ann also the rest of the Carters than came up in the Derbyshire area. No Luck.  Still looking. Thanks Again.
