Has the one that used to be upstairs stopped downing it? If so, it sounds more like the base unit than the handset. I think I’d just leave it on the base set during the day, but take it off at night.

Yes the handset which was upstairs is working fine downstairs, at least I haven’t noticed it coming on.

Do you keep your upstairs handset on charge? I have been turning off the charger once the handset is fully charged but keep the main unit permanently plugged in.

Yes, it's permanently on charge upstairs. I can't be bothered to keep moving the bedside cabinet to turn it off.

Not on the same model, I found that on my cordless phones I started having problems with the lightly used handset, down to the battery set faulty.
Replaced the battery set and problems went away.

The socket is near to the phone. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t bother either!

Thanks for that Brian, I will try changing the batteries.

I have now managed to swop two of my 3 phones over.
Had a bit of trouble renaming the bedroom and office ones,as it kept telling me that I already had a phone called that!

Hope that is going to cure the blue light coming on in the middle of the night,or the occasional line cord error messages I get on the rarely used handset.

Carol

I know it's early days but I'm hopeful that changing the Chinese batteries has done the trick.

So far the back light hasn't come on and the phone stays fully charged even after I turn it off at the wall, which it certainly didn't before.

Perhaps my mania for turning things off caused the problem!

Many thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

Now that you mention it, I don't remember seeing the backlight come on since I swapped out the batteries on my handset from the originals that came with it.

I've got a pair of 1000 mAh Energizer rechargeable batteries in now (might even be on to the second set) which means it lasts nearly a week on one charge without making any calls.

I wonder if BT (or whoever made it for them) knew that the sub-standard batteries caused this frustrating fault.
