Just noticed on the census for John Burton it gives his place of birth as St Mary's Long  Bow, London and not St Mary's Le Bow. Accents change so many words.

After searching all the censuses AGAIN I still can't find hide nor hair of either the Barker or Burton families on any of them. I've found BMD's for the family so I know where the children were born and where the parents married but no sign of where John Barker or John Burton were born. It's so frustrating !!!!

The Barker/ Burton marriage shows William Barker's father as John Barker a shoemaker and Ann's father as John Burton a printer but even they don't appear to be on any censuses although I suppose they could have died by 1868.

I've never come across this problem before and it's driving me crazy. All i need is that one clue as to their place of birth.   ???

I'm still not sure it's the correct one although his occupation as a bill poster could be loosely linked to the printing trade.

Positives are: Living Hull in 1851.

John Burton 35 a bill poster born St Mary. Long Bow, London.
Ann 36 born Nettleton, Lincolnshire.
Ann E age 5
John age 3
Thomas age 1. All the children born in Hull.

I think baby Thomas died later in the year but the family don't seem to be on any of the later censuses.

If it is the correct family, John is with the Barkers in 1871 and Ann is Mrs Barker  :)

Looking at it again, I was a bit doubtful but the children’s mmn is Burton.
There seem to be lots of John Burtons born abt 1848, Hull  :-\
They are a difficult family for sure.

You're right. I'm sure it's the right family and the Barker/ Burton names fit perfectly.

I've just had a look for William's birth and there's no record at the GRO for the birth of a William Barker in Doncaster between 1840 and 1850.

Arrgh will this family ever give up their secrets!!!!!  :'( :'( :'(
