Ruth Williams

Ruth Williams was born in the March qtr 1903 in Pontypridd district, probably in Mountain Ash.  Her parents were Llewelyn Williams and Elizabeth Ann (nee Body).  She had two younger brothers, William James and Llewelyn. 

If anyone has access to the Glamorgan FHS marriage records for the parish Church of St Winifred’s, could they check for me to see if there is a marriage record for her.  (I have lost my copy). I have searched online for her marriage but cannot identify the correct one. I know that Ruth had two daughters but other than that and her approx birth date she has proved very elusive.

No sorry I don’t. I was told by a family member that Ruth had two daughters but that is all they knew.

Which parish is St.Winifred's in?  Glamorganshire is quite a big county I believe.

Hi all, another earlier thread on this family, seems to have never been solved, Elizabeth Ann looks to have commited suicide.

Yes she did. She worked at a local school as a cleaner in Penrhiwceiber/Mountain Ash. She went to work as usual and was found hanging from a ceiling vent n a locked room. No inquest has been found.

As for her daughter, Ruth Williams, she lived in Mountain Ash but I think St Winifred’s was classed as Penrhiwceiber.

Incidentally family records indicated that the suicide was in 1910 but I have found that it was actually 20 years later in January 1930.  So I had been looking at the wrong year !!

I think she may be the Ruth REES born Dec.25/1902 on the 1939 register.

That dob is on her baptism record.

  Just beat me, Ruth Rees with that birth date is also a School Cleaner in 1939 and married.
