Hunting for a marriage.

Lily Houchin and George W Cooper. This is the only record of a matching persons marriage that I can find for these two. How do I start to find a marriage registered in 1st quarter 1936 in Richmond?
Lily Houchin and George W Cooper. They were in the forces I believe but as Lily was from Barnsley I cannot imagine why they would have married in North Yorkshire unless they were stationed nearby.
Any help gratefully received.
