Nathaniel Carrington
« on: Saturday 22 September 18 06:10 BST (UK) »
Nathaniel Carrington born in Wetton 1661-1749. He was a yeoman. His wife was Jane Gillman 1680-1740 from Wetton. He would have been about 30 when he married.
They had several children including Nathan born 1700 or 1702 who became a Kings messenger. And Jonathan born 1717 who was a footman to the Duke of Cumberland and later became a yeoman guard (my line). Another son Samuel born 1713 may have been a cordwainer.
I am looking for a descendant of Nathaniel's who may have family knowledge of him and who his parents were. Hope someone can help.
Fauxy Lady.  :)

Quaker registers, Cheshire/Staffordshire (on Anc****y) has:
1661 Nathaniel Carrington son of ________ Carrington and _________ his wife of Wetton in _______ was born this thirteth day of the first month.  (Several other births don't have parents named)

So, not much help there!  I was hoping for a marriage record naming his father, but can't find one yet.

Hello
If you look at the images of the Quaker record you mentioned the reason that the parents name is missing is a great big ink marks that has settled through the bottom of the page(s).
Looking at other entries for Carringtons in there.
Dorothy d of Samuel Carrington of Wetton and Ann his wife was born 16th Sept 1663
Martha 7th Feb 1667 d of Samuel  and his wife of Wetton
Phyly d of Samuel and his wife of Wetton 12 Feb 1669

Ann buried 9.9.1693 wife of Samuel
Mary buried 13.2.1671
Samuel Carrington of Wetton buried ?field  15.6.1696

So what's the probability that Nathanial was the son of Samuel and Ann?
No other Charringtons seem to at the Quaker Meeting house

Nice find.  Which site are the images on?  The only one I found on Anc was what looked like a handwritten summary drawn from other sources (which is the one I quoted).

Thank you Cider drinker and Phillipsearching.
Nathaniel had a daughter Ann 1710 and a Martha 1719. As they tend to name their children after family members you maybe right about Samuel and Ann.
Nathaniel first daughter was Jane (after the mother) I do not have FindMyPast only Ancestry and Family Search. I wondered if Samuel is connected to the Leek Carringtons?
Thanks
