hello your right about older versions of explorer I also use firefox which works well with family search I am not sure about the dates as I do not go by anything other than original church records where possible as you don't know how good the person transcribing was

I downloaded firefox myself now, and family search works for me now.

I`ve looked at FS and found a christening for a JoHannes Poynter on the 1st September 1648 at Barrow, father Richardi Poynter, mother Dorothae.

There is also a death in Barrow, burial 28th January 1660.

This thread has reminded me I have work to do on " my " Poyenter/Pointers, but so far, they are iin the Wootton and East Halton area, in the next century !

I`ve just taken a look at FreeReg; the earliest record on there is a christening at Barrow in 1746.

It looks as if your only option at the moment is to trawl through LincstothePast.

There are many Pointer baptisms in Barrow prior to 1700. The earliest I can find is Annas in 1599.
