C. of E. Baptisms look-up please BOI.

A few days ago I found that NZ archives, Wellington have Church of England Baptism records
for Bay of Islands.  This was too late for Spades' visit to the archives following another request
of mine.  Today I note that Spades will again be visiting the archives so I am adding another
look-up request please.

I am looking for C of E Baptisms for any children of Johnson and Mary Brothers between February
1840 and March 1845, possible names Annie, Marion/Marian, John and Edward. Place - Bay of
Islands, Russell.  Johnson was stationed for part of this time in Okiato.

Thankyou Minniehaha,  What do you think the 'Bay of Islands Missions' refers to?  There is no
mention of Church of England registers (Christ Church).  Could these be the Catholic records
perhaps?  Johnson Brothers was Church of England and Mary Brothers was Catholic so the Baptisms
could be in either denomination.   I asked for the  C of E records because I found the archives
had these records and it seems a good place to start.

given by Minniehaha are not I believe the C of E records but may be the Catholic records.

Hi Minniehaha,   Unfortunately I don't know how to do that.  The reference I found was on
                        a website for the Church of England in N.Z.  I mistakenly said it was from
                        Archway but it does state that these records are held by NZ archives, Wellington.
                        I am having great difficulty working my way through NZ records, the Maori
                        references are causing confusion as I don't know what they are or where they are -
                        hence my request for help from those who do know.   I will look again to see
                        what I can find on Archway.

You mentioned Russell. The original name for this settlement was Kororareka so any baptism registers for this area may need to be searched, as well as the baptism registers for Waimate.

What do you think the 'Bay of Islands Missions' refers to?

On the following image Deed no.83 refers to the Church of England Mission at Waimate.

This Waimate is not the one found down in the South Island but is the one found in the Bay of Islands sometimes referred to as Waimate North (not that that's a place name with which I'm familiar. Apparently there's a Waimate over in Taranaki too...)

Hello Beg,   I really appreciate your help, you have clarified this for me - a lot!

                  Have checked the Archway link and have isolated 3 records for Kororareka which
                  I believe are the relevant ones.  I will add them to a post to Spades.

                  The Brothers family arrived in Russell from Aust. in February 1840 and departed
                  NZ in April 1845.   Documents sent to me by Spades confirmed that Johnson Brothers
                  was employed by the NZ Government as a 'turnkey' at the Gaol in Russell and at
                  some time was at the gaol in Okiato.  For this reason I believe the Kororareka
                  records are the correct ones.

                  Re  "Christ Church, Church of England baptisms"  I have read that the first
                  service for this church was in 1836 so assumed that the registers of this church
                  would record baptisms for Russell during the 1840-1845 timeframe.
