alexander cameron glenstriven
« on: Monday 24 September 18 14:53 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am new to this forum and looking for information about granddad who was married to Ellen Montgomery on the 1st June 1921  in Airdrie, as my dad burnt all records and this is all the information that I have got. Hoping to do a family tree, with your help.

Thanks
Margaret

Hello & welcome
Your first resource will be ScotlandsPeople:
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/search-our-records
From here you can order his marriage cert. & also find him on the 1911 census.
It is a paid to view site but for anything Scottish it's the place to go.

I agree with Jim - ScotslandsPeople is your go-to site if you have Scottish ancestry. Really worth the money in my opinion as Scottish records are (generally) very detailed.

However, I had a quick search there myself (although I haven't been able to view any records as I have no credits) and can't seem to find anything to fit the surname Glenstriven.
There is a birth and death record on there for a Alexander Cameron Glendinning born 1901 in Johnstone and Elderslie registration district and died 1977 in Dundee registration district.
Does that ring any bells Margaret?

Welcome from me too  :)

The marriage is there as you mentioned in 1921. Alexander shows just as Cameron. Ellen is showing as Helen.

Lesson learned - attempting to break down brickwalls whilst recovering from a migraine is probably not the best plan! ;D

Good luck in your research, Margaret!

Margaret needs to tell us where Glenstriven fits in as I'm not seeing any Camerons there in 1911 although there is an Alexander Cameron aged 26 down the road in Inverchoaolain.
