Seeking info on an orphanage in Texas, 1960s
« on: Tuesday 25 September 18 02:05 BST (UK) »
Where might I find information that would help me identify an orphanage? It may involve the word "Sunshine" and was in business in or near Fort Worth, Texas in the late 1960s.
Bodenhorn, Trout, Winter, Traser, Kramer, Lewis, Krauter, Cooper, Hale, Upchurch, Kleinschmidt, Main, Davis, Young, Fleischmann.

The first thing I found was this mention in Google Books, a reference to a 1930's government publication. Dallas and Fort Worth are in the same county.

Children Under Institutional Care and in Foster Homes
Front Cover
United States. Bureau of the Census, Mrs. Mary W. Dillenback, Alba M. Edwards
U.S. Government Printing Office, 1935

Institution: Dallas County Sunshine Home, Dallas
Sex and age: 3 - 17; 3 - 18
color: white
Under Care, January 1, 1933: 31
Received during year: 55
Discharged during year: 31
Under Care December 31, 1933
  Total: 55

With that, I Googled "Dallas County Sunshine Home" and found a lot of links, including these. The others might be worth looking at also.
